2024 Ford Edge Review
The 2024 Ford Edge returns with five key trim levels, particularly the ST-Line and ST. There’s a continued focus on providing poise and style in a speedy package.
The brand’s goal seems to be a premium product at a non-luxury price. Last year Ford put the Edge ahead of rivals with two key standard features: all-wheel drive and a 12-inch vertical tablet-like touchscreen. How is it doing this model year?
In this Edge review, we look at vehicle performance, features by trim level, and new technologies. Keep scrolling for a real overview of this midsize SUV.
Style, Seating, and Spaciousness
Pampering starts with the SUV’s plush seats. Well-placed bolsters and supportive cushioning help the chair conform to the body rather than the other way around. The five-person cabin has 113.9 cubic feet of passenger wiggle room.
A power chair allows the driver to find the best perch and to adjust as needed. In fact, dual power chairs offer power-ventilation to keep you cool in our Phoenix AZ summers. The front seats have a reclining function for when the SUV is parked. Legroom is 42.6 inches, enough for even the tallest drivers!
The Edge is truly large for a mid size SUV as evidenced by its second-row measurements which include more than 40 inches of headroom and legroom. Reclining seats and a center armrest ensure that backseat passengers can stretch out even more.
Adding to the premium experience, the cabin’s insulation and anti-vibration measures allow riders to enjoy a more peaceful ride. The acoustic windshield adds another layer of noise protection in the 2024 Edge.
Cargo Capability and Utility Features
With a cargo management system ready to assist, the Edge offers utility and versatility. There’s 39.2 cubic feet in the cargo hold. With the second row folded flat, there’s 73.4 cu ft of cargo space.
It can be accessed via a power liftgate on some models and by a hands-free power liftgate on others. SEL and higher trims have an EasyFold release to make folding the 60-40 split rear bench easier.
New Ford Edge models can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The tow package is available on the SEL, ST-Line and Titanium trim levels and standard on the Edge ST. Trailer sway control can alter engine torque, braking and speed to correct dangerous swaying when you are trailering.
Exterior Colors and Appearance Packages
An SE Sport Appearance Package changes the look inside and out. The cabin gains Navy Pier Active X upholstery with an exciting orange stitch. Aluminum wheels are upgraded to a cool 18-inch carbonized-painted style. An aggressive black grille is matched with black beltline molding, pillar bars, mirrors, and roof rails.
The SE Black Appearance Package has many similar elements, but it takes the black-out look even further with its high-gloss black-painted wheels and blacked-out grille. Other details include body-color painted front and rear bumpers as well as pained lower bodyside molding.
Exterior colors include metallics in Atlas Blue, Stone Blue, Agate Black, Forged Green,
Carbonized Gray, or Iconic Silver. Metallic exterior paint choices also come in tinted clearcoats of either Rapid Red or Burgundy Velvet.
Edge SE and SEL Trim Levels
A vertical 12-inch touchscreen provides tablet-like access to menus and dashcards. This cloud connected feature utilizes advanced voice recognition. You’ll have plenty of apps via built-in AppLink and its App catalog.
Plus, you can utilize your own smartphone apps via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can find even more entertainment and information with a Sirius subscription. All Edge models offer WiFi via FordPass Connect. This allows everyone to access cloud features on their smart devices.
SEL trims upgrade the cabin upholstery to a leather-like Active X. The front seats in these two row SUVs are power-adjustable, power-heated chairs. The cockpit has the 12-inch screen and dual driver displays for a total of 20.4 inches of customizable, useful infotainment space.
Drivers will appreciate the power-heated, power-adjustable side mirrors and the auto-dimming rearview mirror. On foot, everyone can feel a little safer with the mirror’s approach lamps. For a more distinguished look, the LED headlamps gain dark bezels.
This second-tier trim opens the door to many options, including the available power-adjustable steering wheel. SEL Sport Appearance package adds classic Navy Pier upholstery for a more unique style. Soft door panels wear a Navy Pier stitching.
ST Line and Titanium Trim Levels
The Edge ST Line upgrades the style inside and out. Dark-bezel LED signature lighting and glossy black painted 20-inch wheels are among the exterior upgrades. Active X upholstery is offered in Navy Pier, Dune and Ebony.
The Titanium trim level takes luxury to the next level with its sleek design and premium features. The LED headlamps with dark bezels give the Edge a sophisticated and modern look. Inside, the power-adjustable steering wheel adds convenience and comfort to every drive. The SEL Sport Appearance package offers a touch of elegance with its Navy Pier upholstery and soft door panels with Navy Pier stitching.
For those looking for a more sporty and aggressive style, the Edge ST Line is the perfect choice. The dark-bezel LED signature lighting and glossy black painted 20-inch wheels make a bold statement on the exterior. Step inside and you'll find the luxurious Active X upholstery available in Navy Pier, Dune, and Ebony.

There’s extra eye candy with Miko seat inserts, a red-stitched leather-clad steering wheel and accent-edged floor mats. Metallic pedals and special scuff plates add more dimension to the elevated style.
The cockpit has the dual power chairs and three-screen set up as well as a remote starter and a wireless charger.. Utility is easier with a power liftgate and an EasyFold rear seat.
The Titanium elevates the cabin even more. Bucket seats are covered in top quality Active X. The front seats feature driver memory, power-heat and available power-ventilation.
Additional options include a power tilt-telescopic steering column and rear heated seats. Interior color schemes feature Ebony or soft Ceramic in five stitched patterns, including one with mini-perforation.
A Bang and Olufsen audio system adds 12 speakers to surround you with sound. An available front 180-degree camera can provide a split view for safer maneuvering. Front and rear parking sensors are standard, along with a blind spot monitor and lane keeping assist.
Standard Powertrain and Drivetrain
The Ecoboost four-cylinder engine is an intercooled turbocharged 2.0-liter unit. This allows it to crank out V6 worthy power without a big penalty at the gas pump. Aerodynamic exterior features, including active grille shutters and a front air curtain, help this engine do more mile after mile.
Driving enthusiasts will be happy with 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque at their command. This is controlled by a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drivetrain has a rear-wheel bias. This gives you a sporty response for your daily drive. When the pavement is wet, icy or snowy, all-wheel drive ensures the best traction.
Ecoboost technology can stop the engine at redlights and start it right back as the driver moves their foot from the brake to the accelerator. This auto start-stop tech is a seamless way to enjoy better city gas mileage.
ST Trim Level
When you choose the 2024 Ford Edge ST, the engine is upgraded to a 2.7-liter Ecoboost V6. This unit cranks out V8-worthy performance. Output is 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. A special 7-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive complete the powertrain package.
For those who really love driving, the ST Performance Brake Package cranks things up another notch. It wears Colorado Red brake calipers and 21-inch glossy black wheels. For faster stops, it has front-and-rear vented disc brakes and vented brake shields. To deal with any extra heat, there’s a brushless radiator cooling fan.
ST cabins have luscious leather upholstery with Miko inserts. Other standards include the B&O Sound System and heated front seats. An ST upgrade adds the front ventilated seats that Phoenix AZ drivers want most. Other extras include second-row heated seats and a panoramic vista roof.
Collision Avoidance and Other Safety Features
Edge drivers can count a number of safety assets, including an automatic emergency braking system with forward collision warnings and pedestrian watch. Other 2024 driver assistance standards watch for side-collision dangers. These include a lane keeper, blind spot monitor, and rear cross traffic alert.
In addition to the standard rearview camera, Ford is still one of the few automakers to offer a front camera system. Edge drivers will appreciate the clear view when they are performing slow maneuvers or parking. Another available feature, the 360-degree perimeter camera covers all the angles.
Parking is easier with the available parking sensors. Plus, the automated Active Park Assist can take care of putting the Edge safely within marked parking lines. Adaptive cruise control is available on all models. Ford’s evasive steering assist adds another layer of semi-automated protections.
