2024 Mustang Mach e Review | Is an EV the Best SUV for Your Family?
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach e is a popular electric vehicle, scoring good rankings from critics and selling well in the marketplace.
It has made its mark as a new EV by providing excellent electric range, good fuel efficiency, and driver-worthy performance. Beyond that, it demonstrates reliability as one of the first EVs to be Built Ford Tough.
These Ford EVs are extremely comfortable, spacious, and well equipped. Unlike some prominent EVs today, Mach e models have pemium cabins that are crafted with top quality materials to stand the test of time and use.
Does this electric Ford fit your idea of an SUV for your daily use? Can it take care of a family? Get details in this 2024 Mustang Mach e Review.
What’s New for 2024?
There are a few news items for the 2024 model year. The first is the fact that Ford EVs will be able to access the Tesla charging network. This just about doubles where you can fast-charge your EV across the country.
From day one, these Ford EVs have been challenging Tesla, and they are still doing it. Ford keeps the prices more affordable. It offers a more spacious and more reliable product. Consumers and critics alike can’t help but notice that it has a higher quality interior with the padded surfaces that make people feel at home. It even has the cool stuff that electric car drivers love, such as single-pedal driving.
Furthermore, there’s a new Rally edition for the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach e, replacing the California Route 1 trim. This adds a sport suspension which gives it some lift and MagneRide shocks to help it withstand the bumps. Meanwhile its special RallySport drive mode lets it do some sideways slides on the track. This is more proof that the Mustang Mach E is truly related to its namesake sports car.
How Much Driving Range and Power for the Price?
While some affordable electric vehicles don’t have a potent powertrain, Motor Trend calls the 2024 Mustang Mach e “good fun to drive”. You can look at the numbers and see that there isn’t a dud in the bunch.
With its single-motor system, drivers command 311 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The driving range for these rear-wheel drive EVs is about 250 miles.
If you want even more kick, you can choose the dual-motor all-wheel drive model. This cranks up the torque rate to 428 lb-ft. Whew!
On the other hand, if you want the maximum range, you’ll love the extended range battery. With this powertrain, the rear-wheel drive models have 306 miles of electric range. The AWD models have 290 miles of driving range. And the driver won’t be disappointed! These systems produce 346 horsepower.
With a range of 270 miles, you might not expect a speedy ride from the Mach-E GT. However, GT drivers command a remarkable 480 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. GT Performance editions crank that up to 634 lb-ft. Zoom, zoom, zoom!
What are the Trim Levels?
From Car and Driver to Edmunds, there’s definitely agreement among critics that the cabin is another strong point for the Ford EV. Edmunds calls it beautifully trimmed. Car and Driver writes that it is handsomely appointed. The interior has many soft surfaces with interesting details like denim material and expert stitching.
The Select trim starts out with a complete driver’s cockpit (explained below) and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The syn-leather upholstery is a rich touch along with many other high quality materials.
Premium models upgrade the audio to Bang & Olufsen. Premium cabins have heated front seats and a power liftgate. Other favorite features include colorful ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. Rally, GT and GT Performance trims are similarly equipped.
What’s in the Driver Cockpit?
Happy to challenge Tesla in the cockpit just as it does on the road, Ford places a 15.5-inch touchscreen on the dash and a 10.2-inch digital gauge display behind the steering wheel. This has navigation to help you find your next destination as well as the closest charging station.
The Sync 4 infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto as well as Bluetooth and satellite radio connectivity. There’s a wireless charger for the driver. Four USB ports and an available Wi-Fi hotspot offer service for all.
A power-adjustable chair keeps the driver comfortable. Dual-zone climate controls help everyone keep their cool during our long hot summers. There’s a 10-speaker audio system if you want premium sound.

How Much Room for Family and Friends?
Some EVs aren’t quite big enough for families, much less friends. However, the 2024 Mustang Mach e has substantial interior space as well as significant cargo space.
Front row legroom is 43.3 inches while second-row legroom is 38.1 inches. The middle rear seat benefits from the EV’s flat floor.
The cargo area measures 29.7 cubic feet. That’s a little more than the Kia EV6. It’s a lot more than the Nissan Ariya. In fact, as far EVs are concerned, the Mustang Mach e is one of the best for luggage. In a clever move, the Ford cargo cover is attached to the hatch and moves out of the way when loading.
A 4.7-cube frunk sits ahead of the cabin. This lockable compartment is easily washed and drained if it has been used for muddy shoes.

Is the Mustang Mach e Safe Enough?
From available DriveCruise hands free driving to the more familiar adaptive cruise control, this EV offers everything that modern drivers want.
CoPilot 360 driver assistance includes a lane keeping system, a blind monitoring system, and a forward collision watch with an autobrake. Intersection assistance is a more advanced aspect that can recognize problems in more complicated situations.
Parking is made easy by a rearview camera, parking sensors and a rear cross traffic alert. Of course, you can also get a surround view camera system to see the entire perimeter of the vehicle on your screen.
Now that you know more, you need to see all of this technology in action. You are invited to schedule a test drive at Rodeo, your Phoenix Ford dealer.
