What’s New for 2025?
Ford doesn’t have to work too hard to update the 2025 Ford Maverick. This is a truck that is already rated at number one for small trucks (US News and World Report; Motor Trend).
Autoblog calls it easy to love. Edmunds calls it pretty fresh and praises it for providing utility on a budget.
Not everything is known yet about the 2025 model, but the word is that there are more trim levels. The Maverick Tremor has graduated from package to separate trim level. There’s a new Lobo edition that’s unlike anything created by the competition.
New Exterior Designs
A new look includes a revised grille design. As always, the style changes some with each trim, including some unique wheel designs.
Making its intentions known from the start, the Lobo street truck sits lower. It’s half an inch lower up front and just over an inch shorter in the back. A two-tone look is achieved by using a solid color for all aspects, including the trim, and then giving it a black roof.
The aerodynamic wheels are definitely a unique feature. These 19-inch black plate alloys add to the distinctive vibe of this streetwise truck.
Performance and Capability
The 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid is once again the standard engine. That’s because it can now offer all-wheel drive and can tow up to 4,000 pounds just like the turbo.
Top output still belongs to the gas turbo. It generates 238 horsepower for this new model year. If you want an off-roader for less, you’ll like the XLT FX4 Off-Road package. If you are ready to pull out all of the stops, the new Tremor trim level has the most off-roading equipment in the lineup.
However, the new Maverick Lobo tops the powertrain lineup. This is a street truck with performance at its core. Naturally it has the more powerful turbo engine, and Ford has modified the radiator and fan to maintain cooling during hard pushes.
With shift paddles for driving enthusiasts, it has a trim-specific 7-speed transmission and performance-tuned steering. In Lobo Mode, it can utilize torque vectoring complements of its twin-clutch rear drive unit. Dual-piston calipers are part of the enhanced brakes on this speedy ride.
Dressy Interiors
Despite its affordable price tag, the Maverick has an elevated sense of style. As The Car Connection notes, interiors are never boring: “not a dull gray, beige, or greige” for this truck.
The cabin is bright and airy, directly contradicting its utilitarian nature. There’s lots of space for passengers and plenty of storage nooks for their gear. Maverick Hybrids can offer 35 inches of rear legroom while the turbo can increase that to 36 inches.
In fact, the new street truck style is sure to get your blood pumping. The interior is a unique blend of Grabber Blue-flecked black. The stitching utilizes that same blue and Electric Lime.
Depending on the trim level, you can get an 8-way power driver’s chair, dual zone adaptive cruise control, and other comforting amenities. Cold weather choices include a heated steering wheel and heated front seats.
New Technology Features
From the base package to the top trim, every trim level has something new. Our favorite new feature is the standard infotainment screen that elevates the interior, making it more contemporary than ever before. Software updates can be handled remotely, helping it stay as current as it looks.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now wireless, helping modern drivers stay focused on the road. Speaking of contemporary, the available 360 degree camera system is now offered with a split-view screen.
Adaptive Cruise Control, standard on Lariat and Tremor trim levels, is a multi-faceted system. It has the stop-go capability that makes it extremely useful in slow-and-go traffic. Plus it utilizes lane centering and predictive speed assistance.
Utility and Versatility
The 2025 Ford Maverick continues the focus on versatility that Ford began with the 2022 models. The Maverick can handle a variety of tasks, from hauling dirt bikes to transporting furniture. FWD Hybrid editions can pull up to 2,000 pounds while the AWD models can handle up to 4,000 pounds.
The FLEXBED™ system, a standard feature on all Maverick trims, provides tie-downs, slots, interior rails, and DIY solutions to customize your cargo space. Covered storage bins can keep your gear secure and dry. Plus a smart bed cover can be tucked away neatly when it isn’t needed.
The clever tailgate can be angled to allow it to carry long plywood safely. Plus a bed extended is available if you will regularly handle longer loads.
