Analyzing the Ford F150 vs Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Phoenix

Some people buy trucks based on emotions or instinct. But if you want the best truck for your automotive dollar, it pays to have as much information as possible.

There are so many available configurations for these two trucks that it can be hard to compare. So we’ve added charts that should help as you think about which light duty full size truck is right for you.

  1. Ford vs Chevy Silverado Performance

As you climb the powertrain ladder, you should know that the Ford F150 tends to have the upper hand. It starts with a 10-speed automatic transmission on all models. Chevy holds back its ten-speed for its four-wheel drive models.

The entry-level F-150 trucks have an extra 15 horses under the hood of their Ecoboost engine. Stepping up, the 5-L V8 from Ford beats the 5.3-L EciTec V8 from Chevy. We’re talking about 45 extra horses and about 25 lb-ft more torque.

Stepping up from that, you’ll find that the sophisticated 3.5L Ecoboost V6 creates 500 lb-ft of torque, outrunning the Chevy’s 6.2-L V8 with 460 lb-ft of torque.

When you upgrade to the Ford Hybrid, output is even better with 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade in a different way, you get the Ford high output turbo with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Either way, you have engines that beat out the Chevy Duramax. This diesel I6 turbo creates only 305 horsepower. Even with 495 lb-ft of torque, the Chevrolet Duramax engine falls short of these Ford rivals.  Performance

  2. Ford Exclusives: Onboard Scales and More

Ford claims the top towing capacity and top payload rating. It is the only truck company offering Onboard Scales. This allows you to load your bed with the confidence that you’ll know if the load is getting too heavy. It takes the guesswork out of the process.

Pro Trailer Backup Assist is still a Ford exclusive, allowing drivers to back up the trailer with a dial while the steering wheel controls the vehicles. It also has trailer reverse guidance for the safest trajectory.

While Chevy has trailer hitch technology, it doesn’t have the Trailer Pro Hitch Assist that is also exclusive to Ford. Plus the Ford F150 offers a smart trailer tow connector that allows the trailer and truck electrical systems to communicate.

Ford doesn’t neglect the basics, including a tow-haul mode for both the rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrains. With continuous controlled damping, the Ford F150 provides a smoother ride that benefits you when towing. Structural upgrades include the Class IV trailer hitch with a 2-inch receiver and an upgraded rear bumper.  Tow

  1. Cabin Sizes, Bed Sizes and Cargo Capacity

These two trucks offer similarly sized regular, double cab and crew cab sizes. On the Chevrolet work truck and some lower trims, quality tends to feel mediocre. Hard plastics and other inferior materials suggest the Silverado cabin won't look good for very long. If you compare Silverado cabins to the Ford F-150 work truck, you’ll find higher quality materials and careful craftsmanship.

Furthermore, the Ford dash tech is so good that it makes the work truck seem like a higher trim. While the Silverado supplies only a 7-inch screen, F-150s have a standard 12-inch touchscreen.

Silverado 1500 bed options include a 5.7-foot size that’s slightly bigger than the Ford’s 5.5-foot bed. Otherwise, the 6.5-foot and 8-foot are much the same. Only Ford offers zone lighting, which helps you see everything around and in the truck, even when it’s dark.

Chevrolet’s 8-foot bed volume is 71.7 cubic feet. That’s quite a bit less than the Ford F150 8-foot bed which has a maximum volume of 77.4 cubic feet. Ford trucks also have a higher payload capacity, maintaining an edge over the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado in Phoenix.

Making life easier, the Ford F-150 offers an exclusive Pro Access tailgate. This allows you to open a smaller door-like section of the tailgate to access the bed when a trailer is hooked up.

  2. The Basics: Safety and Driver Assistance

When it comes to the basics, Ford has them covered much better than the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Today’s most critical collision avoidance features are Ford standards.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500s have the regular set of driver assistance, including lane management, forward collision avoidance, and automatic high beams. However Ford goes further with a standard blind spot system that can watch your trailer, too. That’s critical for work drivers and leisure haulers alike.

Only Ford has an autobrake that reacts after it detects a crash, slowing the vehicle to help prevent further collisions. For parking Ford includes rear parking sensors and a rear cross traffic alert on the basic work truck while Chevrolet asks you to make do with just the rearview camera.  Features
