2025 Ford Escape Review

The 2025 Ford Escape offers a trim level for every type of Phoenix driver. It can be practical, sporty, luxurious or all of the above at once. Plus it always offers the maximum technology for your automotive dollar.

With Ford CoPilot360, the Active trim is a good pick for daily commuting and city driving. Favorite standards include wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, available SiriusXM, available WiFi hotspot, and push button start. The standard Ecoboost engine is perfect for daily driving. It delivers a balance of power and efficiency.  Smooth acceleration and responsive handling makes it an easy pick for any type of driver. The smart engine delivers 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque that is managed by its 10-speed automatic transmission.

For those who want more power, the 2.0L EcoBoost delivers thrilling acceleration and passing power. It's great for highway driving and light towing duties. Output is 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.

The hybrid powertrain produces a combined 192 horsepower. With its extra capacity, the plug-in hybrid produces 210 horsepower and a higher rate of torque.

Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is offered on Escape Active and ST-Line trim levels. All wheel drive is standard on the ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite and Platinum models. At this time, it is not available on the 2025 Escape plug in hybrid.

If you are managing a strict budget, the standard Ecoboost 3-cylinder turbocharged engine is the answer. This is standard on the Active, ST-Line, Select and Elite trim levels.

With front-wheel drive, this smart ride earns 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway for a combined rate of 28 mpg.  An automatic start-stop function helps reduce fuel loss by pausing the engine during long redlights.

If you are looking at long term costs more than short term, the 2.5L Hybrid Engine is the answer. It earns 42 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. That’s 39 mpg combined.  You can get the hybrid in the ST-Line, ST-Line Select or ST-Line Elite trim levels.

To get the best fuel economy in an SUV this size, you’ll love the Escape Plug-in Hybrid. It earns some 101 mpg-equivalent in combined driving. It has an electric range of 37 miles. Both the Escape HEV and PHEV come with Ford’s hybrid component warranty which runs for up to 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

If you are looking for the most fun behind the wheel, you’ll want the 2.0L Ecoboost I4. It manages fuel efficiency while still providing maximum horsepower and torque. This turbo four is standard on the Escape Platinum and Escape ST-Line Elite trim levels.

Even if towing isn’t your priority, you still want to know that your new vehicle has the strength to pull a load if it needs to. If this describes you, you’ll be fine with the 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid or Plug in Hybrid. Tow ratings are 1500 pounds, when properly equipped.

If you think you may need more, you can choose the standard Ecoboost engine. It can pull up to 2,000 pounds. For the maximum towing capability, the 2.0L Ecoboost I4 models can pull 2,000 or 3,500 pounds, depending on proper equipment.

Typically the Class II trailer towing package has all of the equipment you need. This includes a 4-pin trailer wiring harness and a hitch receiver. It also has an auxiliary oil cooler for the automatic transmission. Last but not least, it has trailer sway control for greater safety.
