Does it match how you live your life? Discover the details about Ford's midsize truck right here.
New Exterior, New Raptor
With its new exterior and lighting design, the new Ranger strikes an assertive pose day or night. C-clamp headlights and C-Clamp tail lights give this vehicle a definite light signature. A new hood is fronted by one of three trim-specific grilles. Strong shoulder lines and bold wheel arches add new definition to the silhouette.
2024 Ford Ranger Raptors stand taller and are even more distinctive. Large FORD lettering crosses the honeycomb grille. An all-steel bumper and a thick front base plate declare this truck’s intentions to take on the world. Additional shields protect the fuel tank, engine and 4x4 transfer case.
Functional vents on the flared fenders help ensure air circulation. Mounted front and rear tow hooks are ready for duty. BF Goodrich 33-inch tires are all-terrain KO3 style. Bead locks are available for utilizing low tire pressure in our desert sand. Whether it’s the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro or GMC Canyon, the Ranger Raptor will win slow-speed and fast-speed trail competitions easily.
New Interior
With the new focus on the larger two-row cabin, designers were encouraged to focus on every element of the interior. The result is a more cohesive whole with an improved fit and finish. Upgraded materials bring new soft touch points and interesting textures. Noise insulation and other engineering techniques are used to quiet the ride.
The 2024 Ford Ranger SuperCrew cabin has more places to stash your gear. There’s a large storage bin in the center console. Larger door pockets let you put the essentials, including some tools, in easy reach. On the second row, under-seat cargo bins add convenient storage.
Moreover, there is ample space behind the seats to store tools and other equipment. New for the 2024 model year, the revised seatbacks fold flat. This makes it easier to load and transport bigger items.
Ranger Raptor and Other Trim Levels
2024 Ranger shoppers will recognize the trim levels, starting with the XL. The main configuration is the SuperCrew cabin with a five-foot bed.
The XLT adds more softness with full carpeting at your feet and premium cloth covers at your back. Other upgrades include dual-zone climate controls to ensure air conditioning is taking care of both the driver and front seat passenger.
Ranger Lariats remain the most elegant choice. Leather upholstery covers the seats. Both the driver and front passenger enjoy a power-adjustable chair. Sporty and well-furnished, Tremor Rangers have soft Miko suede inserts in their well-bolstered seats.
The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor has a special sport steering wheel, magnesium alloy paddle shifters, and six overhead upfitter switches. As you might expect, there are Raptor performance seats and an exciting Code Orange trim. Dashboard technology is at its finest with a large digital instrument cluster to match the large touchscreen.
High Tech Dashboard
As part of its 2024 Ranger XL upgrade, Ford places a class-exclusive screen duo on the dash. Behind the steering wheel, there is an 8-inch digital instrument display. Beside it, there is a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Sync4 capability.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay let you steam your smartphone apps right to the screen. To make things easy, you always have physical buttons or knobs to turn up your AC or radio.
Adding more value and more fun to every Ford Ranger, a WiFi hotspot is now available across the lineup. There are two USB charge ports in easy reach to keep your smart devices ready. FordPass Connect adds even more ways to connect with this new midsize truck.
Advanced Tech Features
A best-in-class 12-inch touchscreen comes with the extra benefits of Ford Sync4A. Over the air updates keep the features fresh. Built-in navigation includes accurate maps and turn-by-turn directions. A wireless charger makes life a little easier on the go.
Individualized screens provide the 2024 Ranger driver with more than navigation and music options. Among its capabilities, there are screens for vehicle controls, such as drive modes. One screen provides you with off-road data.
With the 360-degree camera system, your slow maneuvers get easier. The different views show up on your center screen. This is an excellent companion on the trail where it can show you the nearest obstacles and opportunities.
Raptors have the 360-degree camera and a Front View Camera for off-roading. Dash tech includes a big 12.4 digital instrument cluster as well as the Sync4 12-inch touchscreen. An active exhaust system can be tuned to quiet, or you can enjoy a soundtrack in Normal, Sport or Baja modes.
Better Beds
The Ranger has always had a good bed, but Ford found ways to improve it for the 2024 model year. This new generation of midsize trucks has an integrated box side step on both sides of the bed. These steps are extra wide to allow the user to put both feet on the step when necessary.
Wider, there’s just over four feet between the wheel wells. This gives you the width needed when loading 4 x 4 lumber and other bulky items. Already a favorite feature, the integrated track has added two more inches to give you more ways to tie down your load.
Updated, the tailgate can become your workbench. A built-in ruler is ready to help measure, and clamp pockets are ready to keep items in place. Speaking of tools, the bed offers a 400-watt power inverter. Owners can use this outlet for refilling a tire with an air compressor or something more fun.
It’s easier to see at night with plenty of bed lighting. With the FordPass App or the truck dash tech, you can turn on Zone lighting. This helps you see around the truck when you are setting up or taking down camp in the dark. This exclusive Ranger option is standard on the 2024 Ranger Raptor.
Trail Toys and Technologies
We’ve already mentioned important tools, such as the 360-degree camera system and the dedicated off-road Sync page.In fact, there are 31 ways the Ranger offers to assist you. Many originated on the Ford F150 and are now part of the 2024 Ranger menu.
To reduce danger on the go, the blind spot system offers trailer coverage. Trailer Reverse Guidance utilizes cameras to monitor your progress. Through warnings and coaching, you’ve got more help than you ever knew you needed.
Adding value to the 2024 Ranger Raptor, Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trail Control are two of its many standards. Pro Trailer Backup Assist can turn the trailer in a direction different from the truck. Trail Control is like very low-speed cruise control, leaving the driver to watch the terrain and steer.
More Driver Assistance
Active Park Assist 2.0 is a new Ranger menu item. This puts the midsize truck into a parking space with perpendicular or parallel lines. To allow the Lariat 4x4 to be able to utilize this function, Ford engineers developed a special short-throw E-shifter.
Adaptive Cruise Control will let the Ford midsize truck stop and go with the traffic, while the driver concentrates on steering. Lightly assisting the driver with steering duties, lane keeping helps the truck stay within the marked lines,
Standard driver aids on the 2024 Ranger XL model include a forward collision-avoidance system with warnings and an autobrake. Lane departure warnings and the available blind spot monitor help keep the truck out of side collision situations.
Intersection avoidance and evasive steering assistance are part of the more advanced system now available with the 2024 Ford Ranger. You can also get a rear cross traffic alert and a blind spot warning with the ability to program the lengths of up to 10 trailers. There’s a reverse parking autobrake as well.
Powerful Engines
The reliable 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine remains the standard choice. This proven winner generates 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque and really propels this midsize truck with confidence and poise.
Additionally, the Ranger will offer a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6* engine. Enthusiasts may recognize this one because it is available on the F-150 full size truck and Bronco SUV.
Output is 315 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. This provides customers with more power for tasks such as towing, passing, and off-roading. The only way to get a better engine on a midsize truck is to step up to the Ranger Raptor.
Payload continues to be a Ranger strength. Top numbers are now at 1,805 pounds. That beats the Nissan Frontier’s 1,669 pounds or the Toyota Tacoma’s 1,685 pounds.
Raptor Power
A 3-liter twin-turbo Ecoboost V6 powers the 2024 Ranger Raptor. This produces a best-in-class 405 horsepower. Producing 430 lb-ft of torque, it can harness torque at low speeds for off-road crawling or use that torque for high-speed driving and off-roading.
In Baja mode, there’s a unique high-speed turbo lag. Turbochargers continue to spin for up to three seconds as the driver reduces the throttle. This racy engine is made of graphite-iron cylinder block to keep it light yet super strong in the heat of fast travel.
In fact, the entire build is unique. A stronger foundation includes reinforcing the frame rails. The suspension is stronger thanks to reinforced shock towers, shock brackets, and mounting points. A long-travel rear suspension boasts a Watts linkage and lightweight upper and lower control arms.
Rear shocks are FOX™ 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass style with piggyback reservoirs to prevent heat build-up. With similar live-valve front shocks, this system can alter damping based on your choice of drive modes, such as Baja, Rock Crawl, Off-Road and more.
Class-Exclusive Transmission and Drivetrains
Still a class exclusive, a 10-speed automatic transmission makes the most of every gear shift. If you check the competition, you’ll find 6, 8 or 9 speed automatics.
2024 Ranger drivers enjoy a wider selection of gears at the lower range for off-road adventures, as well as improved highway acceleration at higher speeds. The towing capacity is easily handled with the tow-haul mode to assist drivers.
In addition to front-wheel drive, an advanced electronic shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system is available. This system is designed specifically to handle off-road conditions as well as low traction situations.
In addition to the 10-speed SelectShift transmission, the Ranger Raptor benefits from a more advanced four-wheel drive system. The electronically controlled two-speed transfer case can act on demand. To assist, the Ranger Raptor has front and rear locking differentials.
Rangers are still offered in the FX4 off-road package or the Tremor package. These add skid plates, terrain management, and special suspensions to let you tackle the trail. This continues Ford’s effort to provide trail experiences throughout the Ranger price range.
Better Truck for the Money
Is the 2024 Ford Ranger still a good deal? With its class exclusive features, some standard and others optional, it makes a strong case.
Perhaps the real value is in its ability to pull 7,500 pounds. This is more towing capability for the money than its rivals. The 2023 Tacoma V6 is rated for 6,800 pounds while the 2024 Toyota Tacoma V6 is rated for 6,500 pounds. Nissan Frontiers have a top tow rating of 6,720 pounds.
You can spend $5,000 more to get the Jeep Gladiator diesel, and that will increase the tow rating to 7,650 pounds. That 150 pounds is a very costly upgrade. Likewise, you can’t get the 7,700-pound towing capability on the GMC Canyon without putting down a hefty premium over the cost of the Ford Ranger XL with the tow package.
Furthermore, the Ranger Ecoboost engine continues to earn better fuel economy. In the city, it earns 21 mpg compared to 19 mpg for the Chevrolet Colorado, 18 mpg for the Nissan Frontier, and 16 mpg for the Jeep Gladiator. On the highway, it earns 26 mpg, more than the Jeep Gladiator (23 mpg) or the Colorado (24 mpg).
Now that you know more, schedule a test drive of the Ford Ranger or exciting Ranger Raptor. This is definitely the year for a new midsize truck at Rodeo Ford dealership Phoenix AZ.
