2024 Ford Bronco Review| Off Road SUV Dares to Conquer
The 2024 Ford Bronco is destined to conquer the trail, the daily commute, and anywhere its driver wants to go. Adding to the fun, the 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor takes the fun to new levels.
These midsize SUVs have bragging rights, having earned 9.5 out of 10 at Car and Driver. New for this model year, the entry level trim is the exciting Bronco Big Bend. It starts shoppers off with a 12-inch standard infotainment screen.
Is a Bronco right for you? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different trims? We’ve got answers in this 2024 Bronco Review. Keep scrolling to find out more.
Ford Bronco Models are Ready for Fun
Unlike most SUV lineups, every Bronco can take to the trail. Adventure lovers can feel good about choosing the Bronco Big Bend, Black Diamond or Badlands.
The trail-ready basics come down to four things. First, all Broncos have a high-clearance build to allow these SUVs to rise above trail debris. Second, a High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension takes care of the trail’s big bounces. Bronco drivers will appreciate the short overhangs that won’t snag and tight approach/departure angles.
Third, all Broncos have the performance needed to harness torque at the lowest speeds.Last, but not least, four-wheel drive and GOAT modes are standards that help it go over every terrain.
Sasquatch Stands Taller
If the initial package isn’t enough for you, the Sasquatch package is an affordable way to customize your Bronco straight from the factory. A wider rear track helps provide stability. Extra-strong bash plates that can take a beating. Beefy Goodyear 35-inch mud terrain tires add to its trail capability.
A high clearance suspension adds height to the Sasquatch models. Long travel dampers, Bilstein shocks, and Dana electronic axles add strength and flexibility to the suspension.
The Heritage Limited Edition comes with this off-road equipment so you don’t need an extra package.
Exciting Tech Meets Rough Rider
There is no bare-bones Bronco. The new 12-inch touchscreen is part of the Sync 4 infotainment system. There’s advanced connectivity, it’s easy to see, and it’s easy to use.
Owners can utilize their favorite smartphone apps through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Everyone can use the available Wi-Fi hotspot. This feature is fun for passengers on the go. It’s helpful when you are parked at a picnic spot or campsite.
Bronco shoppers can choose built-in navigation with its extra advantages. The audio system can be upgraded to a premium B&O system.
There’s a long list of driver aids available to keep the Bronco out of harm’s way. This ranges from an emergency autobrake for forward collision dangers to lane keeping assistance.
Convertible Body Styles
How big do you want your off-roader to be? The smaller 2-door models have the advantage of being shorter, an asset on the trail. To preserve wiggle room, these Broncos seat only two. There’s plenty of room for adults so your friends will be comfortable. Plus it can handle kids or car seats with ease.
The 4 door Bronco has seats for three. It increases cargo space by about 50 percent, too. It’s got almost as many tricks on the trail as the shorter 2-door version. It all comes down to how much space you really need.
Shoppers have soft-top and hard-top roof choices that turn Broncos into convertibles. The doors have an exclusive frameless design. In the 4-door Bronco, the doors fit in the cargo hold.
Ford makes sure you still have your mirrors. The designers utilized a cowl-mounted style so you know what’s behind you.
On-road Performance
As trail-smart as the Bronco is, it’s got what it needs for on-road performance. The standard engine is 2.3-L Inline 4 Ecoboost. This clever turbo churns out 300 horsepower.
A 7-speed manual transmission helps you harness 325 lb-ft of torque. You can choose a Ford 10-speed automatic transmission if you prefer not to be in charge of changing gears!
This is V6-like power that is edging into V8 territory. Of course Ecoboost tech is designed to provide better power without sacrificing Bronco fuel economy.
If you want your Bronco to be even speedier, you can choose a 2.7L twin-turbo V6. This Ecoboost engine generates 330 horsepower. That twin-turbo engineering does an incredible job of harnessing every pound-foot of its 415 lb-ft of torque.
Four-Wheel Drive and GOAT Terrain Management
GOAT means Go Over Anything Terrain Management, and Ford engineers have done the work to make sure these Bronco SUVs really can conquer difficult terrain.
GOAT off-road modes start with a Slippery and Sand setting. That’s a nice asset for Phoenix drivers who want to try off-roading in the Arizona desert. If you are interested in high-performance off-roading, the Baja drive mode turns the Bronco into a desert runner.
A mud-and-ruts drive mode helps with sticky surfaces and helps the Bronco handle the ups and down of rutted terrain. A Rock Crawl mode adds the ability to handle the slow-and-go nature of slow-speed, high-torque crawling.
The standard four-wheel drivetrain has shift on the fly capability thanks to its sophisticated electronics. It utilizes a two-speed transfer case for trail use. A more advanced 4WD offers even more help on the trail. It has 2-H and 4-H settings.
Cargo Area, Tow Ratings and Other Utility Considerations
2024 Broncos can tow 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. That’s enough to handle a pop-up camper. You can certainly bring along ATVs, motorcycles, or a small boat on a trailer.
The two-row Bronco has 22.4 cubic feet of space in its cargo hold. The seats fold flat to allow the user to claim 52.3 cu ft. With its larger cargo hold and bigger rear seat, the 4 door models promise 77.6 cubes with a hardtop and 83 cubes with a soft top.
If you choose the available modular front bumper, this heavy duty feature makes it easier to upfit your off-road SUV. Options include a trailblazing brush guard, a safari bar, and a winch.
Interior Colors and Design
Despite their easy-wash nature, Broncos can be as dressed up as any other SUV today. In fact, you’ll find more color and contrast in these cabins. Favorite interior features include the available ambient lighting and dual-zone automatic climate controls.
Big Bends have a dark space gray vinyl upholstery with black onyx inserts. A complete Black Onyx interior adds mystery to the Badlands vinyl or leather choices. Navy Pier accents dress up the dark space gray leather seats in the Outer Banks. This trim level offers leather in Roast and Black Onyx.
Wildtraks wear their leather in medium sandstone and onyx. Raptors offer an exciting blue and black leather combination. A Navy Pier plaid adds a retro style to the Bronco Heritage interior. Fun interior elements in Race Red and Oxford White contrast colors dress up the Heritage and Heritage Limited trim levels.
Adventure Cabin Features
Dirt doesn’t bother these midsize SUVs very much. Standard on many trim levels, you can wash the interior with your garden hose. There are handy drain plugs, and it won’t hurt the carpet.
These Bronco models have mildew-resistant material, even on their marine-grade vinyl seats. Other smart touches include sealed switches to keep out grime or water.
MOLLE panel systems provide places to secure your water bottles and other small gear. There are straps on the back of the front seats. This keeps you from losing important items when you are bouncing around on the trail.
Bronco Exterior Colors and Styles
Since the 2024 Ford Bronco is expected to spend so much time in nature, the designers were inspired to use colors that evoke the natural world. These hues represent lush green forests, sandy deserts, warm earth tones, and the changing colors of the evening sky.
Exterior colors include a warm Yellowstone, an exciting Race Red, and an Azure Gray with a hint of blue. The dark Carbonized Gray is a complete contrast to the light Cactus Gray. A cool Robin’s Egg Blue is a throwback to a 1966 Bronco color.
Roofs are offered in Shadow Black or Oxford White for a truly sporty look. For an extra dose of retro styling, there’s white accent striping and Oxford White wheels.
2024 Ford Bronco Raptor
Adding more power and props, the 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor packs every trail tool, including Trail Control, One-Pedal Drive, and electronically locking front and rear axles. Ford Trail Turn Assist allows the Raptor’s wheels to turn at different angles, even if they are on the same axle. You won’t find Turn Assist on a Jeep Wrangler.
A 3.0-L twin turbo V6 cranks out 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. That’s part of what makes the Bronco Raptor into a high-speed trail runner.
Bronco Raptors have a distinctive interior that includes leather front-seat bolsters, laser-perforated suede, and orange seatbelts. A soft-vinyl dashboard feels good to the touch, and a sport-contour steering wheel adds a racy touch.
From everyday commuting to remarkable adventures, the Ford Bronco is hard to beat. You can check it out in our inventory. Schedule a test drive online.
